Choosing where to stay in Zante is one of the most important decisions you'll make before your holiday — and it's one most people get wrong. Book the wrong resort and you'll spend your nights in taxis, your mornings frustrated, and your week wondering why everyone else seems to be having a better time than you.
We've been based in Laganas for over 15 years. We know every street, every club, every beach, and every resort on this island inside out. So if you're weighing up Laganas, Kalamaki, and Tsilivi for your 2026 Zante trip — this is the guide that gives it to you straight.

LAGANAS: ZANTE'S NIGHTLIFE CAPITAL
Verdict: The only resort for nightlife-first travellers. Full stop.
If you're coming to Zante for the parties, the events, and the full Greek island experience you'll talk about for years — you stay in Laganas. There isn't a debate.
Laganas is home to the famous Zante Strip, a stretch of clubs, bars, and venues that comes alive every single night from May through October. Step out of your hotel and within minutes you're in the middle of it. No taxis, no planning, no worrying about getting back — just nights that go on as long as you want them to.
The Strip
Rescue Club is the island's biggest and most legendary venue — a 2,000-capacity club with three rooms, six bars, and world-class sound and lighting that's been running since 2001. From EDM and house to R&B and chart hits, Rescue covers every sound and every mood.
On the other end of the spectrum, CherryBay has been at the heart of Laganas nightlife for over 30 years, welcoming 100,000 visitors every summer. Their legendary CherryBay Weekender runs until 8am — you've been warned.
For something more premium, IKON Club at the top of the Strip hosts some of the biggest names on the island, including Nathan Dawe's exclusive 2026 residency. If VIP is your priority, Aura Club — the newest and most talked-about addition to the Strip — delivers bottle service, elite production, and an atmosphere unlike anything else in Laganas. And for hip-hop, R&B, and urban nights, Toucan Club brings something genuinely fresh to the lineup. See everything on our full Zante Clubs guide.
Events
Staying in Laganas puts you right at the heart of the island's biggest events. ABODE — Europe's most sought-after tech house event — runs every Wednesday at Pure Beach Club, minutes from the Strip. The Tidal Boat Party departs from Laganas. Champagne Spray, GRV, GW House — all of it on your doorstep. If you want the full package, our Zante Event Package bundles the island's best nights together at better-than-individual pricing.
The Beach
Laganas Beach stretches for 9km — a wide, sandy expanse with beach bars, sun loungers, and water sports to fill your days. It's busy, because this is the heart of resort Zante. But it's a proper beach, and you won't be disappointed.
Laganas is for you if... You want nightlife as the main event. Waking up late, hitting the beach, pre-drinking, then going out until sunrise — Laganas is built for exactly that. It's also the best base if you're booking events in advance, because everything is walkable.
Look elsewhere if... You need a solid night's sleep every night. The Strip is loud and the energy doesn't die until the early hours.
KALAMAKI: THE BEST OF BOTH WORLDS
Verdict: The smart choice for groups who want nightlife without full immersion.
Kalamaki sits immediately next to Laganas — so close that the main Strip is a comfortable 5 minute taxi away. But step into Kalamaki itself and the vibe is noticeably different. Quieter, more relaxed, with a cleaner beach and a calmer atmosphere during the day. At night, you walk to Laganas and enjoy every club and every event the Strip has to offer — then walk back.
The Beach
Kalamaki's beach is arguably better than Laganas's for actual relaxation. Fewer crowds, cleaner sand, and a genuinely slower pace. If daytime quality matters as much as nightlife to your group, Kalamaki gives you more of both.
Nightlife
Kalamaki has its own bar scene for earlier evenings, but its real value is proximity to Laganas. Staying here doesn't mean missing out — it means choosing your level. On the big event nights — ABODE, Nathan Dawe, the Tidal Boat Party — a 5-minute taxi is nothing. On the nights you want a quieter evening, you have that option too.
Kalamaki is for you if... You're in a mixed group, heading away with friends who have different appetites for going out, or this is your first Zante trip and you want flexibility. You get 90% of the Laganas experience with noticeably less noise.
TSILIVI: THE ALTERNATIVE
Verdict: Beautiful, but not a nightlife base.
Tsilivi is on the north side of Zakynthos — roughly 25–30 minutes by taxi from Laganas. It's a genuinely lovely resort with an excellent beach, a relaxed atmosphere, and a cleaner, more family-oriented feel than the south coast. But if the parties are why you're coming to Zante, Tsilivi is the wrong call.
The resort has bars and a small club scene, but the atmosphere is fundamentally different to Laganas. Tsilivi is relaxed by design. Getting to the Strip every night from here means taxis both ways — added cost and logistics on every single night out, including late finishes when getting back becomes its own problem.
Tsilivi is for you if... You're visiting Zante for its scenery and culture rather than the nightlife — or travelling with family. It's also a better geographic base for exploring the island's north coast, Shipwreck Beach, and spots like Porto Limnionas.
SO, WHICH RESORT SHOULD YOU CHOOSE?
"I want full-on nightlife every night, maximum energy, and events on my doorstep." → Laganas. No other answer.
"I want nightlife but also a decent beach, decent sleep, and slightly less chaos." → Kalamaki. You get 90% of the experience with 50% of the noise.
"Mixed group — some want to party hard, some don't." → Kalamaki, unless the party contingent seriously outnumbers everyone else.
"This is my first Zante trip and I'm not sure how much I'll go out." → Kalamaki. It gives you options without locking you into the full Laganas experience.
"Nightlife is secondary — I want to explore the island." → Tsilivi or look beyond the south coast entirely.
WHEREVER YOU STAY — THE EVENTS MAKE THE HOLIDAY
The resort you choose sets the scene, but the events you book are what you'll actually remember. In 2026, the Laganas event calendar is as strong as it's ever been — ABODE every Wednesday, Nathan Dawe's residency at IKON, the legendary Tidal Boat Party, Champagne Spray, and more.
Booking early is essential. The biggest events sell out weeks in advance and early bird pricing makes a significant difference to what you pay. Our 2026 Zante Event Package is the easiest way to lock in the best nights at the best price — built for groups, flexible, and backed by a team who've been doing this on the island for 15 years.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is Laganas or Tsilivi better for nightlife?
